Poetry: The Earth’s Afflictions
By Anjali Amin, George School
If the earth was a dog
it’d be covered in fleas,
eating away at its fur
like we cut down the trees.
If the earth was a shoe
it’d be in need of a polish,
because of scuffs we created
with our mountains of rubbish.
If the earth was a shirt
it’d be ripped up and soiled,
with holes made for mines
and stains left by oil.
If the earth was a person
they’d be down on their knees,
begging for salvation
as we ignore their pleas.
